Blanc! 2025 – Open Titles
Opening credits and visuals for Blanc! 2025 under the concept ‘Unfinished by design’
When Blanc! Festival asked us to create the opening titles for its 2025 edition, we knew this was no ordinary commission. The starting point was the visual identity created by Coding Systems under the concept Unfinished by Design, an open, experimental, and deeply collaborative graphic proposal. Based on their manifesto, we developed the concept that would shape the entire project.
We designed the animations in grayscale, creating compositions that were synchronized with the different sound layers of the song (melody, percussion, bass), anticipating a final result that we couldn’t see in real time. The post-processing of each frame was done with the script developed in Processing, which transforms the gray values into patterns of white, black, and green, where the latter acts as an intermediate tone. The result is a long series of abstract images that make sense through repetition, rhythm, and code.
The process was technical, laborious, and almost artisanal: thousands of PNGs exported, processed, and assembled layer by layer in After Effects, superimposing resolutions and applying masks to make the most of the script’s visual texture. An inherently unfinished piece, which only makes sense through error, exploration, and visual play.
